Skyphos Butterhead

Butterhead lettuce, also known as Bibb lettuce, has a rich history that dates back to the 1860’s when it was first developed by John Bibb in Kentucky. Initially called “limestone lettuce”, the name was later changed to honor its cultivator. Although it was first cultivated in the mid -1800’s, it wasn’t commercially available until roughly a century later, and it didn’t become widely popular until relatively recently. Today, butterhead lettuce is prized for its delicate, buttery-tasting leaves and is used in salads, wraps sandwiches, burger and tacos.
